The fun aspect

The PADI Open Water Diver course is divided into three main phases:
-Development of Knowledge (online, with individual study or in the classroom), to understand the basic principles of immersion
- Immersion in confined water, to learn basic diving skills
-Summering in open water, to review your skills and explore!
If you have already tried to dive with a Discover Scuba Diving Experience or a resort course, the skills you have already learned can be credited to one of the parts of the entire Open Water Diver certification course.
The diving equipment you use
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, learn how to use basic scuba equipment, including a dive computer and standard accessories. The equipment you wear varies depending on whether you immerse yourself in tropical waters, temperate waters or cold waters.
Find out at your local dive shop which equipment to rent and include in the course package; you will find almost everything at a dive shop.
The teaching materials you need
For the Open Water Diver course, PADI offers a variety of materials for individual study. Although eLearning is the most convenient option, you can also choose the book and DVD package or the multimedia DVD-ROM.
The PADI Open Water Diver course materials deal with everything you need to know about basic diving skills, terminology andsafety procedures. For each concept, you will read the description and you will see the demonstration in the video; then, you will jump into the pool (or similar environment) to practice these exercises with your Instructor. Finally, as a certified diver, you will use the course materials as a reference for your future underwater adventures and toreview what you have learned.
